Mr McClelland is the Headteacher of Luckwell Primary School and is an "Ex Officio" member of the LGB. (Ex-Officio means - because he is the Headteacher). In addition to his Headteacher duties he is responsible for Pupil Premium, Religious Education and is the Designated Safeguarding Leader.
Joanne DouglasParent Governor

Joanne became a parent governor as she believes every child should have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Joanne feels proud to be part of the Luckwell School community and is looking forward to working with staff, governors and parents to ensure children have equal access to the curriculum enabling them to make excellent progress. She is also the SEND and EYFS Governor. Joanne is a mum of two boys who both attended Luckwell Primary school. Joanne has long links with Luckwell Primary School and continues to be invested in this schools future. Joanne feels passionate about children's mental health their development, progress and learning. Joanne is an Early Years specialist who works full time at Ashton Gate primary school as an Early years LSA. She also enjoys running and completed her first half marathon in 2020 and Zumba

Joan Tobin is a secondary school teacher who has worked in education for 24 years. She is currently working at Redland Green School within the Gatehouse Green MAT where she is Head of Modern Foreign Languages. Joan is looking forward to using her experience to work with the Luckwell Primary School community to order to secure excellent outcomes for all pupils. She is the Child Protecting/Safeguarding Governor and is committed to working with the Head, staff, parents and governors to ensure that Luckwell is a happy and safe environment to learn. She enjoys reading, travelling, spending time with family and friends and supporting Everton Football Club.
Madeleine MannCo-opted Governor

Roles & Responsibility: GDPR, Pupil Premium/CiC
Madeleine Mann is a local governor who has worked in Education Recruitment for over 5 years, and has a working relationship with a number of schools within the Gatehouse Green MAT. Maddie hopes she can bring some of her recruitment experience and knowledge to Luckwell Primary. In her spare time Maddie has volunteered at a number of local community events such as the Bedminster Lantern parade and enjoys Pilates once a week.
Paul SloanCo-opted Chair

Roles & Responsibility: H&S
Paul has been a governor since 2019 and was delighted to become Chair of the governing board in 2020. He initially moved to Bedminster in 2005 and, after 5-years spent living in East Asia, returned in 2017. He initially became a governor to give something back to the community and despite a relatively limited knowledge of the education world, he looks forward to learning more about this and how he can effectively contribute. Paul is a civil engineer and runs a small engineering consultancy specialising in infrastructure design - which is mainly roads and drainage for houses, offices and occasionally schools too. He is also Health & Safety link and hopes that his experience and understanding of risks on construction sites will give him with some insight into risks within the school environment.

Anna moved from London to Bedminster in 2018 and is proud to be part of the local governing body at Luckwell Primary School and serve the local community. Anna has professional qualifications in Public Relations and Project Management. Anna's experience of working within university education and healthcare has enabled her to bring many skills to the board. Her expertise is in change management, communications and engagement. She believes in working with others to create open and supportive environments where everyone can thrive and achieve their best potential. In her spare time you will find Anna reading, watching box sets, at the theatre or planning for her next travels.
Rachel BartlettParent Governor

Rachel decided to become a parent governor after having 2 children who had already gone through the school and one about to start.Rachel has a long standing link with the school, as she herself also attended Luckwell with her 2 brothers.She believes that making the link stronger between parents and schools is key to having a successful school.
Rachel works full time for BT as a Service Introduction Manager, where bringing different areas of the business together is key to her role and hopes she can bring this skill to her position within governors.
Rachel helps to run one of the local youth football teams with her partner and with 3 active kids and a new puppy this takes up most of her time.
Lilly ByersVirtue of Office Head of School

Lilly joined Luckwell Primary in September 2018 after living and teaching in New Zealand for nine years. She was appointed Head of School in the summer of 2020. Lilly has been in the teaching profession for 15 years and has had a variety of leadership roles. Lilly holds qualifications in primary teaching, applied studies (digital and collaborative learning) and social policy and criminology.
Tracey BarnesStaff Governor

Tracy Barnes is a staff governor. She has 15 years insurance experience in the private sector and she has been an LSA for over 10 years specialising in EYFS and key stage 1. She has been a Luckwell parent too and has 2 children aged 20 and 16 who both attended Luckwell during their primary years. Her husband also attended the school so has a lot of history with the school. She lives locally and is a popular member of the school community. She enjoys spending time with her family and doing craft activities such as crochet and knitting.
Emma WoodshawCo-opted Governor

Emma became a local governor because she was eager to contribute to her local community in a meaningful way, having been born in Bristol and lived in Bedminster for the past ten years. She is passionate about the importance of good school places in her local area and is excited to be working with Luckwell School at such an important time in its development. Emma currently works at the Department for Education in the South West Regional Delivery Directorate, as a project lead across the Gloucestershire local authority. She has ten years secondary teaching experience, specialising in Ethics and Philosophy. Emma enjoys cycling, reading, and swimming, and spends far too long finding hills to ride down or cold water to jump in!
Sam ClarkCo-opted Governor

Sam is a university lecturer with experience in design teaching and academic management as well as pastoral care within higher education settings. He is also a qualified architect with expertise in residential design and previous practice experience in the education sector. Sam lives close to the school and has long admired its integration with the locality; the school's buildings, grounds and people all positively contribute to a village atmosphere in this part of Bedminster. Sam is proud to be a part of the Luckwell School community and happy to work with the staff, governors and parents to ensure children have positive teaching and learning experiences and develop positive relationships with others. Sam enjoys climbing, cycling, badminton and yoga.

Stuart Dalley has worked in education for 15 years and has held a number of teaching positions and is currently Deputy Head (Academic) at an independent school in the city. He brings with him an interest in the academic side of school life and ensuring best outcomes for all learners. He lives close to the school and is committed to playing a key role in the school's contribution to the local area. Stuart is delighted to be part of the Luckwell Primary School team and to work closely with staff and governors. In his free time he is an avid reader, enjoys sports and fitness and spending time with his family.

Date from 28/1/2021-27/1/2025I am married to Heather. We have lived in Ashton forthe last 5 years. Previously, we lived in Nailsea for 28years, and brought up our 3 children(who are all in their 30s) there. We have 2 grandsons, who live with our daughter - also in Nailsea. I haverecently retired as a partner in a top 100 firm of solicitors.I have always been interested in education and some years ago was a governor at Ravenswood School in Nailsea. More recently, I taught a CILex evening course at Weston College. Having retired, I am keen to put something back into the local community.My interests include music and singing (I am a member of Bath Male Choir); Sailing and anything to do with the sea; Rugby - not playing any more, but a keen follower of Wales, Bristol Bears and Nailsea and Backwell under 11s and under 9s; I am an omnivorous reader and a keen cook and baker.
